Books that Caught My Eye

Today I ran across two books at the Golden Braid Bookstore, which is located in Salt Lake City, that I wanted to share. The first one is Change Your Life Through Travel by Jillian Robinson. Speaking from experience, I swear I come home a changed person. Right along side was 1,000 Places to See Before You Die by Patricia Schultz. I could check off a few places but sure would like to see more. Now if only I could accrue a 1,000 days of paid vacation.

  1. I teach about the Tuareg when I teach about Africa in Geography and World History. It is amazing how they can maintain their traditions (e.g., camel caravans and trade in salt). A very interesting culture!

  2. When I was in Belgium I had the opportunity to travel to all the fun places around there. I got to go to Brugges and then got onto the bullet train that took us down to Paris France. I would love to travel to as many places as I can before I die. I might go and check out that book. Thanks for the post!

  3. I have the book 1,000 Places to see before you die. I love it! I get the travel bug every time I read it. I think that I have been to like 20 of the destinations :( 980 to go!

  4. Miller, I'm sure you show the NatGeo video on the Tuareg. The video seems to paint a good picture of their lifestyle. Fascinating people.

  5. Bryce I'm starting to think that owning the 1,000 places book is a must. It does make you want to pack your bags and take off.

  6. I have been lucky to travel to some great places. I got to go to Africa (Kenya and Tanzania) with my family and it was the best trip I have ever taken. I want to do so much more traveling though. If only I didn't hate to fly!

  7. Hi Marianne, I remember an author named John Goddard who used to share his trips at school assemblies with a slide show with his commentary which he did for years. One particular time I still remember was when a projector became unplugged at the start of an assembly at Bryant Jr. High and Mr. Goddard was up near the stage, and he asked a teacher that was standing by if he could plug it in and he outright refused, For some reason I still remember this incident but not the show. Also if you would like, I have a poll on the super bowl on my blog if you would like to cast a vote, thanks! Joe
